Frequently Asked Questions
How does reSPF know when to remind me to reapply sunscreen?
reSPF tracks real-time UV index data for your GPS location using Apple WeatherKit. Combined with your Fitzpatrick skin type and the SPF level of your sunscreen, it calculates a safe exposure window and alerts you when it expires.
Does reSPF work without an internet connection?
Some features require an internet connection to fetch live UV data. Your skin profile and SPF history are stored locally and remain accessible offline.
How does the Label Scanning feature work?
Point your camera at a sunscreen product label and reSPF's on-device AI will read the ingredient list to assess whether the product is safe and effective for your skin. No image is uploaded to our servers.
Is my skin data shared with anyone?
No. Your Fitzpatrick skin type and sunscreen information are stored locally on your device and synced privately via iCloud (CloudKit). We have no access to this data.
How do I delete my data?
Deleting the app removes all locally stored data from your device. To remove iCloud-synced data, go to iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage and remove reSPF data.
The app isn't sending me reminders. What should I do?
Make sure notifications are enabled for reSPF in iOS Settings → Notifications. Also check that location access is set to 'While Using' or 'Always' in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → reSPF.
